John and Todd, two ambitious entrepreneurs, met while attending California State University Sacramento. John majored in Business Marketing, Todd in Computer Science. They quickly became great friends, and have been ever since. A few years after graduating, each had their own successful career in their respective fields. In the Spring of 2003, John called Todd in panic because his computer crashed and wouldn’t restart. John, a successful Realtor at the time, thought he had lost all his client data. Todd came over to John’s within a couple of hours and fixed the issue in a matter of minutes, saving the day! It was then that John asked the simple question…
I can’t be the ONLY person with this problem…can I??"
Todd assured John that he wasn’t alone and explained that he helps people with technology challenges every day in his career as an IT Manager. They discovered that just like he did for John, Todd could provide technical support to help people at their home or business. At that moment the two decided to go into business together, and Tech 2U was born!
Tech 2U’s beginnings were humble. John placed a simple add in the newspaper, and Todd used his personal vehicle in his spare time to help people with their computers in their homes.
It soon became clear that the demand for this kind of in-home service was huge, and Todd would commit to working for the business full time while John provided the marketing muscle.
We make ourselves available 7 days a week, 12 hours a day from 8 AM to 8 PM.
From day one, Todd and John had an unparalleled commitment to their customers and wanted to offer them the best service possible. For starters, they introduced innovative, transparent, flat rate pricing while everyone else charged by the hour, but that wasn’t all. Todd was technically proficient and could repair virtually any computer problem, but also possessed a talent for relating to customers in a language they could understand, not “tech talk.”
Technical proficiency, superior customer service, and providing the best value became the recipe for Tech 2U’s success. With this winning formula, Tech 2U grew from just two fresh-out-of-college friends to over 100 employees across three major cities in California and Nevada.
Now Tech 2U not only offers superior in-home service from experienced, friendly technicians with a fleet of vehicles, but also has 11 convenient store locations. It also offers remote repair service and support, where a technician can repair a customer’s computer without them having to bring it in, or a technician going to them. To top it off, Tech 2U offers membership support plans to all its customers for a low, flat monthly rate, providing greater value than ever before.
Beyond its traditional service and repair business, Tech 2U has a Managed Services division that exclusively serves small and mid-sized business, offering ongoing monthly IT support, network design and builds, cyber-security consulting, and much more. Plus, Tech 2U has recently expanded its breadth of services to include Digital Marketing, where it designs, builds, and maintains top tier websites, employing the latest techniques for search engine optimization (SEO) and social media campaigns.
Even though Tech 2U has had tremendous success since its humble beginnings, John, Todd, and the entire Tech 2U organization have never lost sight of the recipe that made it successful over the years. This tenet is embodied in its company mission statement:

Tech Services 2U was born from two college friends with a great idea.
