Last week we told you what Apple was rumored to announce at its “Pro and Tell” event, and the rumors were true. Apple confirmed a touchscreen MacBook Pro, a refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro, a new iMac, and an iPad mini. Pre-orders are open now, and everything ships this Friday, November 6.
Here’s what Apple announced, for different budgets:
$699: the OLED iPad mini. A good fit if you want something small for travel or note-taking, but it’s not a laptop replacement.
$1,499: the iMac with M6. A good fit for home offices and front desks. It’s an all-in-one, so there’s less to set up.
$1,999: the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6. Our pick for most people, and the best value of the Macs. It has up to 24 hours of battery life, 16GB of memory standard, and it keeps the HDMI port, SD card slot, and headphone jack.
$2,899 and up: the touchscreen MacBook Pro (14-inch and 16-inch). Apple’s first touchscreen Mac, with an OLED display and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. It costs about $900 more than the M6 14-inch. Unless you want touch or the new display, you probably don’t need it.
A few things to know before you order:
Memory prices are high, and shortages are expected to last into 2027. Configuring extra memory or storage will cost more than it used to.
If you have an older Intel Mac, macOS 27 requires Apple silicon. Your Mac will still work, but some Intel models will get security updates only, with no new features. If yours is in that group, now is a good time to plan the switch.
Delivery dates can slip as launch day gets closer, so if you’ve decided, order soon.
Apple makes switching Macs easier than ever, but it’s not always seamless. iCloud and Migration Assistant move a lot, but people still run into files left behind, apps that need to be reinstalled, work accounts and printers that need setup, and backups that never got turned back on. Tech 2U can:
- Make sure nothing gets left behind on your old Mac
- Reinstall your apps and get your business software and email working
- Turn on backups and security
- Get your printer, scanner, and accessories working
Order your Mac now, and we can have it ready to use soon after it arrives.
